 September 2009 JourneyNotes
From Jean................at Journeys
Autumn is my very favorite time of year. Growing up in New England I remember how the weather magically changed once Labor Day was over. The days were crisp and bright, the evenings required a jacket. Long sleeves and dark plaids were in order for back to school dresses. Football games, apple cider and magnificent colors on the trees were the norm. I found the return to a routine comforting just as I am sure my parents did.
It has been a long time since I have experienced the back to school rituals with our children. I only had one chance to get that beginning of the school year picture right. As they got older they would try to get out of the house hoping I would forget. Now one of my important September rituals includes organizing all the classes and workshops as we gear up at Journeys for our fall 'semester'. There is certainly a lot going on this September much of which is listed in this newsletter. There is also preparation for the G-20 Summit. Please join with hundreds of Pittsburghers who hold the intention of peace through the G-20 Oneness Prayer during the time leading up to and throughout the G-20 events. Joining together we can make a difference, promote peace and encourage an effective, non-violent summit.
Hal and I will watch the G-20 proceedings from afar as we travel to South Carolina next week for our annual vacation. Because the kids are no longer a part of our vacation plans we can wait until September to venture to the beach. The weather is still gorgeous and the crowds have left to go back to school! I will tell you - I can hardly wait. Kiawah is the the ultimate place of serenity for me. It is where I go to rest, relax and renew.
I leave you in the capable hands of our wonderful staff. Please note - they are preparing for a sale while we are gone. I have no idea what they plan to do, but please let me know if they try to give the store away. You can expect a few extra emails towards the end of the month but I assure you they will be worth it and this will not be an ongoing occurrence.
See you in October................. Jean
