While at the Atlanta Market in July I took time out from buying to do some networking with Cinda Baxter, founder of the 3/50 project - a grass roots effort to save the brick & mortars that our nation and city are built on. Many of you know about my passion to keep independent businesses alive and vibrant. You have heard my plea more than once about shopping locally. Cinda has taken this message all over the country, to unite businesses and help them work together to educate customers and give the community awareness about what independent businesses mean to an area.
A group of like-minded independent business owners in Shadyside have joined together to get the word out about The 3/50 Project and what it can do for Shadyside. The concept is quite simple. Pick 3. Spend $50. Save your local economy.

When I got back from Atlanta I picked my 3! It hasn't been hard to spend $50 in a month amongst these three stores, all the while knowing that I am doing my small part to keep independent businesses alive in Shadyside.
