Can you believe it is August already? Where did the summer go? Kids will be back in school before we know it and when it isn't steaming hot it has a feel of fall. Hal's garden is amazing this year. Tomatoes are ripening really quickly, my favorite green beans are so much better freshly picked and the zucchini is overtaking the garden. I am so fortunate to have a husband who loves to dig in the dirt!

Last week I read a Gandhi quote I had not seen before - "Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony." It reminded me of a small three legged stool one of the kids used to have when they were little. When all the legs were placed solidly on the floor, it was really sturdy. But every once in a while the stool would be partially on the floor and partially on the carpet. When that happened the stool was not balanced and a child usually ended up on the floor. As Ghandi said, if I am thinking that someone has done me wrong but say nothing and avoid that person, I cannot be happy. And oh what a wonderful feeling it is when the thinking, saying and doing are all in harmony. Happiness abounds! Are you happy today? If not what needs to be realigned to bring the three legs of the happiness stool into a sturdy balance?

You may have noticed a new magazine available at Journeys of Life the last time you visited. Because of its name, The Journey, people have asked if we are now in the publishing business. Hardley!

I first saw The Journey while visiting Amy in Cleveland while she was in grad school. At that time the publisher, Clyde Chafer, also had a store with a focus similar to Journeys of Life. So I paid him a visit. The following year Amy and I made a trip to The Journey Expo, produced by Clyde. I was impressed with the caliber of speakers, the array of exhibitors and the number of attendees.

So when Clyde came to see me about advertising in the new Pittsburgh section of The Journey I signed up. We have met several times and have begun planning for a Spring 2011 EXPO in Pittsburgh. Exciting things are happening and you can be a part of it.
