Moonstone is the gem associated with the feminine because of its ability to enhance the intuitive side of the mind. The moon plays a vital role in the health of the Earth Mother; the cycles of the moon have a strong effect on the beings who inhabit the Earth as well.

Flower: Rose
Long a symbol of love and passion, the rose is rich with history and meaning. Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, presented a rose to Eros, and Cleopatra lured Mark Antony with a room knee-deep in rose petals. Though each color offers a distinct meaning and the number of stems offers a singular message, the Rose signifies beauty and perfection.

Signs of Summer
In my opinion, Dragonflies and Butterflies are synonymous with summer!  There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the porch and watching the butterflies enjoy the flowers in the garden as much as I do.  And no matter how many times I see a dragonfly at the beach I am mesmerized.  Both seem to hover as if bringing me a message.  It is no wonder that once I learned the symbolic meaning of each of these insects, they became important totems in my life.

B U T T E R F L Y   Cultural myth and lore honor the Butterfly as a symbol of transformation and new beginnings.  Imagine your whole life changing as drastically as that of the butterfly - from egg, to larvae, to pupa and then to the beautiful Butterfly.  Herein lies the deepest symbolic lesson of the Butterfly.  She asks is to accept the changes in our lives as casually as she does.  The unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis is also symbolic of faith.  The Butterfly asks us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives.  Butterfly understands that our toiling, fretting and anger are useless against the turning tides of change.

D R A G O N F L Y The dragonfly is a symbol of happiness, strength, good luck, transformation and change.  Dragonflies carry messages that deal with deeper thought, asking us to pay attention to those thoughts and desires.  Just as a dragonfly skitters across the water so do our deeper thoughts rise to the surface demanding attention. The Dragonfly lives a short life, and knows it must live life to the fullest with what it has.  This lesson is huge for each of us.  When you see the dragonfly, be aware of the gifts it has to offer by keeping its animal totem meaning in mind.
