Don't get me wrong - I love trade shows. I love everything about them - the preparation, the anticipation, the hunt for new treasures, the capture of product picked just for you. Shows are exhausting - lots of walking, and looking and walking and looking. Did I say there was lots of walking? But when the dust settles and my feet have recovered it is all worth it because I am usually thrilled with what I have found to bring in for you.
This Atlanta market at the beginning of January was probably one of the coldest markets I have ever attended. You may not remember but I used to go to Chicago in January for market. I thought that was cold. But the 10 degrees and even lower with wind chill that I experienced in Atlanta was the worse. I grew up in New England, went to college in Maine and skied in New Hampshire. I know how to deal with cold. But the wind and the black ice that ensued because of the winds and sub freesing temperatures was something else. I loved watching the news to see that schools were closing because they "might" get snow overnight. Businesses closed early because of the cold. People who live in the deep south have no idea how to deal with that kind of cold. I survived the trip - barely. Thank goodness most of the buildings are connected by walkways so I only had to get to mart once and leave only once. I came home and could actually appreciate 35 degree weather!
We have a busy end of January at Journeys. Classes, readers, new product arriving daily. I hope you love everything I found as much as I do. And I hope to see you soon at Journeys.

Himalayan Rock Salt
Himalayan salt comes from a low-lying region situated in the first foothills of the Himalayas, over an area of approximately 200 square miles, in the northwest of Pakistan. The sea covering this region evaporated due to climatic changes. Powerful tectonic movements gave rise to the Himalayan range. This pink stone is prizaed for its healing qualities. These natural crystals emit negative ions that cleanse, restore and revitalize the environment both at home and at work. Salt crystal lamps promote comfort, relaxation and a healthy environment. Himalayan Rock Salt Crystals act as air purifiers by neutralizing harmful pollutants and emitting health promoting ions through a process only possible with the mineral salt. Hand crafted salt crystal lamps are perfect for placing in offices to reduce fatigue and minimize the effects of computer screen radiation. Use at home around smokers and near the television to neutralize smoke and reduce radiation. As the lamps are used, they trap dirt and pollutants on the rock crystal. When the buildup obvious, all that is necessary is to lightly brush the lamp with a soft, damp rag top remove the impurities.

While traditional, commercial room ionizers have been shown to help people with pets, allergies and pollutants, these machines are expensive. All natural rock crystal salt lamps are far less expensive, far more beautiful and produce equally effective electrical or ionicbalance. When plugged in, they produce a calming warm, amber glow. Salt Lamps are ideal for use in massage studios, waiting rooms, meditation areas or in any room where you want to restore or maintain air quality.Journeys of Life has a great selection of lamps in varying sizes and shapes. We also stock Votive Holders, Salt Soaks with rose or lavendar, and Table Salt both in a grinder or as a block used with a grater.
