No prior musical skills are necessary. The exercises and music on this disc are presented in a simple straightforward manner so that anyone can begin playing drums and grooving rhythms right away. This 18 track 54 minute CD contains five brand new full length drum pieces including pieces based on the tradional rhyhms Fanga, Hi Life, Belede, Shiko as well 15 different exercises for your playing and listening pleasure. Each drumming track is presented with all parts playing at the same time time (djembe, congas, bass drums, shakers, bells) with no soloing. Later on the disc Jim breaks down each part slowly so the student can learn specific parts one at a time. This disc is a great tool not only to learn new rhythyms but also to improve listening skills and develop soloing ability. Works great for drumset players too.
